ZAP (which stands for Zero Air Pollution) has been a leader in advanced transportation technologies and energy products since 1994. ZAP (Symbol: ZP) serves the multibillion-dollar markets for next-generation transportation and power products through three divisions:
- ZAP Automotive
- ZAP Personal Transportation
- ZAP Energy
The Company has delivered more than 90,000 fuel-efficient and pollution-free vehicles powered by gasoline, electric, hydrogen and other fuels to customers in more than 75 countries around the world. They also hold exclusive license from Smart-Automobile LLC to deliver the popular European-made Smart Car, a high-efficiency gas vehicle, to the American marketplace. They even have licensed intellectual property that permits them to “Americanize” Smart Cars (and other vehicles) to make them compliant with US emission and safety standards.
Here are a few things that ZAP has accomplished in the past few months:
- May 10th, 2006: ZAP introduced iZAP lithium battery line for the iPod. iZAP portable energy adds hours to iPod playback time.
- May 3rd, 2006: Zap rolls out electric city cars to combat high gas prices; ZAP XEBRA(TM) City-Car are currently in production in China.
- April 25th, 2006: Smart car rally ZAPs gas prices from New York to California.
Below is the stock price history in the past 3 months:

There’s not much that I can say about their stock performance – except that demands have picked up recently which caused the price to increase a little bit. Frankly, there’s not much that you can expect from them now. Maybe in 3-4 years…But definitely not now. However, if you want to invest in ZAP, right now is a perfect time to invest since the price/share is still really low.

Quote of the Day:
The best assurance of continued growth, and high profit margins, comes back to this: the company should have a special niche in the marketplace, so that sales don’t depend on offering a commodity item at a lower price than the competition’s. – Ralph Wange
