Golf and Technology –> Perfect Combination??

I’m not really big on golf, but this really made me think twice about picking up golf as a hobby. What would you feel, as a golf player, having a PGA caddy at your fingertips. It shows the exact location on a golf hole as you play it, exact distances to the other golfers in front of you, water, sand hazards, the green and the pin? What are you going to say about that?

What would you feel if this tool shows you news headlines, sports scores, stock tickers, and even allows to order your lunch and beverafes from anywhere on a golf course? Or maybe provides internet connection so you can still contact your office by emails. You’ll get all these information on a piece of handheld, full-color display palmtop device mounted on your golf cart.

The company that is inventing this technology is Vancouver-based GPS Industries (Symbol: GPSN).

I’m not sure what else that I can tell you since it really blew me away when I found out about this. Thanks to Yahoo News, following are their press releases:

3. GPS Industries Expands to France.

Above is their stock performance in the past 12 months. Look at the number of shares purchased between May 04 to Oct 04 – you can tell there weren’t a lot of demands between those 2 months. Starting in November 04, more people got interested in the stock. The number of shares purchased were going up for the next two months. Even from January to March 2005, there were a lot of transactions going on. A lot more demands compared to the previous year. Do you think this one can be a pontential good investment?

This is a pretty tough call. I really love their technology, but the stock doesn’t seem to perform as good as I was expecting. They probably need more exposure to their technology. Nonetheless, I think this stock is a pontential good long-term invesment. But definitely not a good short-term investment.

    I’m sorry for being intrusive in to your blog. But I am Melissa and I am a mother of two that is just trying to get out of an incredible financial debt. See my hubby is away in Iraq trying to protect this great country that we live in, and I am at home with our two kids telling bill collectors please be patiant.     I agree,

    I love PGA GOLF. and recently I have bought stock in it. Not like real stock on Wall street, but a stock market that is strictly for sports.

    You have seen it? Its pretty cool. You buy issues for your favorite golfers and you make real money. Not like a fake stock simulator. I cash out Dividends each time your golfer plays in a tournament. Also I can sell my players stock when the price goes up.
